Hello guys, I feel kind of obligated to report what's going on here in Los Angeles where the dramatic 40 years reunion has been at last at full throttle now. Frankly speaking, all members here are disappointed first at the news that only 18 of you could come over to celebrate our long-waiting celebration, unexpectedly small numbers...We had many meetings to plan how we give the most cordial hospitality to the Korean delegates( quite flattering comments ), sometimes our debates turned to fierce arguments but it ended up to be a little plan like when we expect one or two friends paying an informal visit to us.
We had a formal celebration party held at 7 pm on May 10(Sat), 2008 at Garden suite hotel where the Korean delegate stay. It was a decent hall accommodating around 100 good people without problem. Suddenly the halls got crowded by a flock of giggling schoolboys and girls, exchanging greetings and hugs, talking some dirty talks we used to hear at school, and endless laughters and drinking. About 80 of us including our ladies seemed to start the first day of new semester, a little bit excited as well as some expectation on the outcome of our reunion. Our spokesman, Man Sung Choi presided the opening ceremony, making us laugh all the time by his farce and wits, we should hear in the schedule the formal addresses from leaders of both sides, Moo Jin Chung and Hyung Soon Chang, but they skipped their opening talk, making a short greetings instead because our formal ceremony already turned into boisterous gala, influenced by mansung's quizzical tone and cynical jokes by many bad boys. So our historical encounter began like that, it was really a good show, ending with our school song in unison, that song was still touching our heart, very emotional, enough to take us back to our good old days.
On Sunday, many guys went playing golf and the rest went to San Diego to the Sea World. Some strange thing happened in golf course. I called Man Sung to check when they finished golf and returned to hotel cause we had a dinner party also at 6:30 in Chinese restaurant. I was surprise to hear that he made hole in one at 165 yards of 17th hole, first time in his play. Now you can also guess what happened that night. After we had a good dinner hosted by Jung Kyu Park and Soo Dong Moon, we all went to No-Rae-Bang, of course Man Sung's treat on everybody. We are around 60 altogether, there is a new Norae Bang opened recently, they have a huge room so that we all could sit down and our crazy night slowly added heats, singing the old good songs and dancing the old twist, also keep drinking..... Everybody still says Man Sung needs to do some more to entertain us all. It was a really some night. Our chats last endlessly but they had to begin their four day trip to Grand Canyon next early morning. We had to end those pleasant night, all laughters and drinks.....I want to list up many friends from other states and give special thank for their coming to this occasion: Mr.and Mrs Seo Young Lee from NY, Mr and Mrs Young Joon Kim from Indianapolis, Mr.and Mrs.Jong Tae Choi from Phoenix, Mr.and Mrs Shi Bok Kim from Houston, Mr.and Mrs. Sang Ho Hwang from Atlanta, Mr.and Mrs Kyun Kang from San Jose, Mr.and Mrs. Young Shik Oh from Gilroy, Mr. Jin Ho Sunoo from San Jose.
Now they are on second day in trip , we will have the closing dinner on 6 pm on Thursday. Our reunion is not that long but our precious memory will last forever without doubt. I really thank all our friends, not to mention you guys in Korea, for the good friendship, support and care for each other. It will deepen as day by. Even our body become decrepit, our spirit and our brotherly bondage will get stronger every day. I may put a postscript later when our rooms get empty after their departure. I want to keep this warm feeling as long as I can. I pray you be in good life and good health till we meet again. from LA, Sang Kyung |
